Flash: Who posted what?

Recently Henk van Ess unveiled his own “Wo Posted What?” free website, which allows you to perform text searches on Facebook and Instagram.

https://whopostedwhat.com/

It was developed by Daniel Endresz and Dan Nemec, GUI by Tormund Gerhardsen.

The website allows you to perform different types of research:

  • Get the Facebook user’s userID from his Vanity url:

l'userid di pincopallino
By entering the user’s vanity url, it was possible to obtain its userID.
  • Run text searches in Facebook based on keywords and specific dates/time periods/locations.

In this example, I want to know who mentioned “European Border and Coast Guard Standing Corps” on October 2, 2020.

Search Interface

The Opened Facebook page in the Browser shows the public posts that respond to the search parameters.

The search results page
  • Look for all public instagram posts geolocated to a specific location.

I want to know all the posts geolocated in Munich.

The search section on Instagram

To display the search results, please keep in mind that:

  1. You need an active Instagram account in your browser,
  2. the results of your interest are listed in the “Most Recent” section, under the “Top Posts” section.

The beginning of the “Most Recent” section is marked in red

The search options, not many when compared to the past, allow you to do a few very useful advanced searches.

On the occasion of Matera DigiSec 2024, I decided to illustrate a tool that is still little known (unfortunately!) but instead is part of the tools of many Incident Response teams and perhaps deserves more prominence. I am talking about the opensource tool Velociraptor, on which I based my short talk, entitled “Enterprise Incident Response with Velociraptor: when time is all.”

In occasione del Matera DigiSec 2024 ho deciso di illustrare un tool ancora poco conosciuto (purtroppo!) ma che invece fa parte degli strumenti di molti team di Incident Response e che forse meriterebbe maggior rilievo. Sto parlando del tool opensource Velociraptor, sul quale ho basato il mio breve intervento, dal titolo “Enterprise Incident Response with Velociraptor: when tempo is all”.
